BESTIE DAY DATE OUTFIT

Last week I went on a day date with my bestie to see David Sedaris speak. I had never read any of his books, or listened to anything he had done before, but I would go anywhere with her, so when she asked me it was a big ol’ YES. I’m so glad I did b/c he ended up being hilarious with a wonderful amount of inappropriateness. And he is tiny, like me, with the most fabulous wardrobe. It was an incredible thing to witness live. We grabbed a whiskey + margarita on our way which was a little over the top at 2 in the afternoon on an almost empty stomach, but man it was fun! Then we went and pigged out at Jacala’s, a mexican joint on West Ave that I hadn’t been to in about a decade. It used to me my spot with my ex, and I just never make it over there these days. It was nostalgic + so yummy.

Onto the outfit… this is what I wore that day. My favorite Kantha Bae top, called the Butterfly Top. I still can’t believe I scored this baby. It is completely embroidered, which is rare for these one of a kind pieces. I’m wild about the fit + style of it. Paired with my favorite AE jeans (so sad I can’t find these anymore). My new favorite boots from Musse + Cloud (found on Zulilly). And this necklace is coming in my next collection dropping very very soon! It will be full of moons, suns + butterflies!!! I’m very excited about this drop!

Ava has been popping into my outfit shoots lately. And she always acts silly, true to her character. So here’s a few behind the scenes.

I can hardly believe it's already the weekend.  It feels like it was just saturday.  The days, weeks and months have just been flooding together this year.  Everything is moving so fast.

Ive been working on my third issue of the Bohemian Collective Magazine, and each time I begin this process I seem to forget the amount of detail work that comes in to play, especially in the first month, and then in the last month.  It takes me 3-4 months to create one issue since I'm doing it all by myself.  The first month is spent in total brainstorming mode, sending a million emails, waiting for a million replies, hoping things work out, but creating tons of back up plans just in case... My brain literally goes in a million directions.  I can feel my blood racing through my body when I'm in this mode.  It's exhilarating and exhausting, but so exciting!  It's definitely easy for me to burn out quickly though, so my self care is SO important during this time.  I'm really happy that a friend has asked me to join her for yoga class each week b/c I will be looking forward to that reset each week during this crazy creative time.  If I don't slow down and fill that well up I will get sick.  With the way time feels like its moving so quickly these days, it feels like I won't be able to keep my head above the water, but I know I will.  One day at a time.  Creating a magazine is unlike any other thing I have created before.  I'm still pinching myself for the fact that I'm in the middle of working on my THIRD magazine issue!  Wow.  Holy Wow.

Btw, if your new here and are curious where you can find the first two issues, they are available through the links here.

About this outfit... it seriously makes me so happy.  All of these pretty pastel colors together, the flowers, the fringe, the kimono doodles, the rings... It's like a fresh spring smile on my body!!!

OUTFIT DETAILS: tank top - idylwild // cut offs - thrifted // kimono - flying tomato // hat - free people // sandals - blowfish shoes // necklace - jay nicole // bracelet + feather band ring - bella & chloe // flower ring - gypsy warrior // turquoise cuff ring - strong medicine studio // thunderbird ring - arrok // 3 stone turquoise ring - chromafusion // gold criss cross ring - moorea seal

When I saw this Old Spanish Trail top from Idylwild I fell in love.  Being from Bandera, one of the oldest restaurants around is the OST, and even though I never eat there, its a beautiful piece of history we have in our little town.  I have memories of going there alot from my childhood, always wanting to play the jukebox.  Besides that, it's just a bad ass little tank, as are all of their shirts!

Since doing my latest lookbook for the Bohemian Collective, Laurel Canyon, I'm completely in love with shades of white on white, or really cream colors... It's not really a color I gravitate towards alot, but now I think I will more often.  I'm loving layering in this color palette.

I'm really working on getting my closet down to only what I really love and feel joy from.  Two days ago I filled up 3 huge trash bags full of clothes to let go of and it felt so good.  I feel so much light.  I do this every couple of months, and every time I do I feel a bit lighter.  I want to do the rest of my house again now too.

Yesterday James and I met up with some friends for yoga class and it was just what I needed.  Ive been trying to make myself do some at home each day, but I have a hard time making myself focus long enough to stay in poses for very long.  My brain is so active and I get easily distracted.  A class setting is so good for me b/c I love to follow along and just surrender into whatever I'm prompted to do.  I always walk away with the biggest smile, the best feeling, and so much energy after class.  I feel like I'm going in so many different directions right now between creating the next magazine, working on my new studio space, helping James with Skyline Fever, so many collaborations I have to work on, and just keeping up with our home and life.  Trying to always find that balance of doing and being.  Busy and Quiet.  This was a good step towards that balance once again.

OUTFIT DETAILS: jumper - oasap // hat - whisler civilian // boots - gifted // necklace - love + leather // ring - sacred geometry silver

First of all, it feels good to be home!  I just came home from a little weekend vacation up in Ohio/ West Virginia area to visit my grandfathers family.  He has been gone since I was 15, but he was a sibling of 10 and the family has multiplied by the 100's over the years.  I got to meet so many relatives I had no idea about this weekend.  It was very cool.  I will do a post on it soon and go into more detail.

Coming home has been a bit of a whirlwind.  Tomorrow is my birthday and also happens to be the day I will officially be saying goodbye to my parents home.  Big stuff.  It will definitely be a brand new chapter in my life.  It feels like I'm about to walk through a portal.

This little purple number was from last week.  I'm sad to report it looks this romper is already sold out.  I was a little afraid of it to be honest b/c its alot brighter than what I normally wear... But I actually LOVE it on.  And I think it looks so cute with the vintage belt & boots.

I'm head over heels in love with the ring I had made from Sacred Geometry Silver.  I sent her the palm stone and she paired it with the beautiful turquoise stone so perfectly, and topped it off with two little moons.  It's just stunning.  I'm so in love with handcrafted jewelry.

My brain feels a little full with my to-do list now that I am home.  But I am trying to just do what I can and forget the rest until we get past this huge transition.  This has been years coming, and it's crazy that the time is finally here.  I can hardly decide how I'm even feeling, but I am focusing on the positives that this will bring into our lives.  The blessing this will be...
