BIRTHDAYS + DANCING + THRIFTING

I love today's post b/c it is so full of LIFE.  I had a very fulfilling weekend.  The first few pics are from our friend Jonny's birthday.  My scorpio friend turned 26.  It had actually been a whole damn year since the last time we had been out to his house.  This past year has kept us both very busy and life had made some twists and turns, but it was so nice to be out there again in the hills of Tarpley, surrounded by good friends, and enjoying each other like old times.  It was such a good and needed night.  Oh, and I fell in love with a girl that night.  See that beautiful brown haired sweetheart in my lap?  Her name is Pancake.  And it was love at first sight...  Oh, and we had a dance party, which basically consisted of me, Jonny & his mom while everyone else watched, like always.  Except his cousin joined us for a few songs with some really rad moves, it was awesome.

The next night I had a date with my bestie.  We went to one of our local honky tonk bars to listen to some friends of our play their beautiful music, drink a few beers and just be with each other.  Shortly after being there the cutest little old man (must of been in his 90's) asked us to dance.  At first we sadly turned him down out pure fear of dancing.  We both get super shy about it and have turned down plenty of men during our outings, usually never batting an eye at saying no.  But this 'no' crushed our hearts.  Well... 2 songs later he got the courage to ask again, and I couldn't say no this time.  I was terrified and had no idea what I was doing, but I'm so glad I did it.  We were the only ones on the dance floor and he showed me what to do.  I think we both gifted each other a little something that night.  I'll never forget the look in his eyes.

After sleeping in the next day, James and I went to our local antique shop.  Always one of my favorite things to do.  I found a beautiful vintage belt & a free people top for $12!  Score.

Then on sunday we went to the city to celebrate my nephew turning 7.  He was so cute the whole night and had a blast at his party.  It was just family, no other kids, and he didn't mind a bit.  He loves to be with his family and gets so excited for each person who shows up.  And he was my hero.  He was shooting nerf darts with James, and when James tried to shoot me he ran over and stood front of me with his arms wide open shouting 'Don't shoot aunt Laura!  I loooooveeeee her!!!!'  ha ha, it was so cute.  He is my little monkey.

The last pic is just a pic of my sexy husband, just b/c he is sexy.  ;)

Remember I said we did some thrifting this past weekend?  Well here are some of my finds!  AMAZING.  Ive been looking for a good vintage wallet for years and I finally found the perfect one.  So so in love.  Everything reminded me of my mom this week, it was crazy.  Especially that wooden sun wall hanging.  Can't wait to find the perfect little spot for it in the house.  And just like my mom, I have a thing for old bottles and old wooden spoons.  (among a million other 'old' things).

The images below were from our second round of thrifting.  This belt is just so beautiful.  And the round paisley tablecloth is perfect b/c we just moved one of our backyard tables to the front, so I will use this to have front yard lunches now!

Ive been eyeing this rug at world market for a long time now, so I jumped on it when I got a 25% off coupon from my member savings, a total score at only $37 for a beautiful 5x7 rug!  I couldn't be happier and you know you will be seeing peeks of it crop up in all of my photos.  And its completely Bella approved.  She won't stop laying on it!

THRIFTING ADVENTURE

Katelyn and her family got to my house late on thursday evening, so Friday was our first real day together.  It did not take long for the girls to find themselves in my bedroom playing dress up and bedazzling themselves.  Leena remembered I had these jewels from the last time they came when we used them in a photoshoot for the bohemian collective.  She loves them.  And now, Penelope does too.

We spent a good part of the day a few towns over thrifting.  On the way there we had to pee, so we stopped in our favorite coffee shop in Ingram, Spirit Wind Java.  We got smoothies and lounged on their couches for a bit, taking photos, instagramming, breastfeeding and just being.  Then we went to a few of my favorite regular spots to find treasures.  I found a few stellar things.  A huge, double planter macrame hanger, I mean huge.  Its so rad.  A new pillow for the couch.  A crochet blanket.  A wooden moon shaped jewelry hanger.  A book.  And a wooden bowl.  All for around a whopping $10, if that.  How I love thrifting.

Then we came home and went swimming in the river, which was my favorite part of the whole trip.  It was so much fun.  Lots and LOTS of photos from that coming soon.

So, Im pretty obsessed with these leggings from chicwish.  They have them in purple too.  I have a deep deep love for blue velvet.  Always have.  Something about it reminds me of my mother, even though I don't remember her ever having anything in blue velvet.  But blue velvet leggings??? Love love love.  I enjoyed how this outfit came together with the different colors.  And it was fun breaking out some of my favorite old thrifted velvet pieces like the blazer and the purse.  Ive had them both for probably 10 or more years.  I remember finding the purse for 65 cents at a thrift store, back when thrift stores were still, you know, thrift stores.  It's crazy to walk into a goodwill now and see jeans for $19.99.  That makes me feel old, since I used to do all of my shopping for the new school year in junior high/high school and spend about $30 for the entire loot!  Anyway... I had some fun with this little outfit shoot, dirty hair and all.

Yesterday I spent the day shooting for the next mini Bohemian Collective lookbook!  Ill let you know when its going to be released... it was one of the most intense shoots Ive done, for fear of messing anything up, and having some odds against me.  But James came in and saved the day and helped me out with the last part of the shoot.  I know I am veryyyy behind on the blog over there.  Ive been finding it hard to find the balance between this space, that space, my actual work, and home.  After the mess I made ALL over the house yesterday for this shoot... today Ill spend some time cleaning up, and hopefully dreaming up ways to be a bit more creative with my time and organization.

Also, I posted the first GIVEAWAY yesterday here on the new blog!  In case you missed it, our giveaways are now in their own little section up top.  Just look for the tab that says Giveaways on it.  From now on, all giveaways will be posted there and not here on the main blog.  So go enter and spread the word! xo
