I have re-decorated and rearranged rooms in my home multiple times, but this is the biggest makeover Ive ever done from the ground up.  On my birthday in June we sold my parents house, which was a long time coming, and even though it broke my heart to let go of my childhood home, there is a big blessing in it all from my parents for our future.  From this I allowed myself one big splurge to makeover my whole studio.  My whole life I have outfitted my home with hand me down furniture, thrift finds, etc.  Which is really wonderful and has made my home very homey and often sentimental to me.  In my studio space I always just made it work with what I had, but I allowed myself to create my dream studio, and it felt like the biggest birthday gift ever from my parents.  I am so grateful for this space and everytime I walk in the room to create I am filled up with gratitude.

My biggest goal was to be able to transform my studio from a jewelry studio to a jewelry/ magazine writing space.  Before my jewelry supplies cluttered two huge desks and it was hard to even think in this space unless I was submerged in jewelry design.  Over the past year I have made jewelry less and less b/c of the magazine and Skyline Fever. So now I have all my jewelry supplies tucked away in this desk with drawers where I can easily access them if I'm inspired to do so, and have also created an inspiring place to write my magazine.  I sit at this desk with the window open, watching the deer outside, usually with Banjo b/c he loves watching the deer too.  It is now a space I can go to to sit and daydream about the magazine and feel super inspired.  The whole feel of this space has just shifted incredibly.

A little side note: I do NOT think you have to have the perfect space to create, ever.  I think it's often an excuse so many of us make to not create something, by not having the right space.  My dream of starting my own business years ago began on a card table behind my couch in a 3x6 space.  If you have the passion, you make it work, regardless!  That being said, there is also nothing wrong with creating a beautiful space to create in if you are able to.  It can be truly inspiring to do so.  I'm very grateful to have this space, but I would never stop creating if I did not have it.

If you follow me on instagram you probably have noticed alot of home photos lately.  Ive been very focused on my nest lately.  Partly out of excitement for something coming up, but also I find myself going through natural ebbs and flows of being really into my space.  Right now, I am just really into home.  I can be a very big home body, and I don't mean that lightly.  You could even say, Hermit.  This winter season has brought on that part of myself.  I'm so ready for the sun to come out and to get outside and play, but lately while the weather has been cold and rainy, I just want to stay home, nest, sit by the fire, drink coffee and basically just be.  Could be part of the retrograde period we are in too, seeping in an extra dose of slow motion and rewind.  The past few days especially, between retrograde, the full moon + my moontime, my body has been requesting to just do absolutely nothing of importance.  Which is not a bad thing.  It's been a good opportunity to take to just be.  We all need that, cyclically, to recharge.  Right now my battery is sputtering out and in need of a good recharge.  It can be easy to confuse these times with being lazy, or un-accomplished, or whatever label you want to put on it, when you pretty much always have a to-do list.  But if you can just set those thoughts aside and go with it, you will feel so much better and re-energized within a few days time.

I'm in an interesting place with 'home' right now.  I am a constant re-arranger.  I love decorating, and re-decorating, and you can find me doing something to our home almost every day of my life.  That is how much I love it.  Our home is really feeling magical, and is so full of beauty, and old things, and sentimental things, and things that make me happy.  I feel truly blessed to call this place home.  And at the same time, I can't stop thinking about our future home.  James and I have talked alot about moving to a new home in the future, and we both have it on our hearts lately.  So even though I'm happily nesting away everyday here, I'm also in la la dream land over a new place.  I can't explain why.  Something in my heart is just pulling me, and has been for some time, to make a move.  It's like we both know this is not where we want to live for the rest of our lives, or where we want to raise our future kiddos forever, etc.  Maybe with my word being Root this year, part of the call is to find the place I really want to put down real roots.

We are not in a rush.  We will be patiently waiting for the right timing, the right home, the big YES.  We will know it when it comes along.  It feels so good to have the same dreams, goals and visions with your husband.  I think we are more on the same page this year than we ever have been and its such a good feeling.

I just had to share these beautiful shelves James made me for Christmas.  I had shown him some shelves I liked online, and since we couldn't afford them he decided to surprise me by making them out of my daddies old barn wood, which is very very special to me.  He had a friend of ours help him make them b/c he is not a carpenter, but the fact that he thought of it and designed them, and then helped out with the labor, is so amazing and thoughtful.  I couldn't of asked for a better gift.

The triangle one I decided to keep on my desk by the window, one of my favorite spots in the house for its beautiful lighting, and allow the contents on it to change all the time.  The other one I used on my jewelry wall in the bedroom, an area I have really been wanting to makeover, so it was perfect.  I love this shelf... so many secret messages within its shapes... it looks like mountains, and in the middle is a jewel.  It also forms the name AVA, which is what we will name our daughter if we have one.  They are just perfect.

I love that everytime I look at these shelves I get to see James and my daddy in them.  He would of been so proud of him.

VIDEO OF MY HOME

This is my first phone video, with images from around my home. Song is Overcome with Light by the Bowerbirds.

Today I created my first video with my phone!  I really really want a dslr I can make real videos with... one day... its a dream Ive had for a long time.  I want to make videos of so many things... so today, Im starting small, with what I can.  This was kind of a practice video just to learn how to do it.  Its of random things around my home.  I hope you enjoy!  I also just created a vimeo account, so Im guessing you can follow me there.  (I'm not to hip on it all just yet).  xo
